Views of the lodge

This film shows Simien Lodge, the mountain lodge at about 3,300 metres inside Simien Mountains National Park in northern Ethiopia. The lodge stands at the start of the Simien escarpment, 6 km past the Sawre park gate and about 22 km from Debark, where the scenery really opens out.

Guests stay in tukuls, the traditional Ethiopian round house: stone buildings with thatched roofs, each holding two rooms with their own shower room. The floors are warmed by solar heating, the rooms are decorated with Ethiopian paintings and weaving, and family rooms are available too. See the rooms and current rates.

The restaurant is built around a large circular fireplace and serves international and Ethiopian food, and the bar is the highest in Africa (restaurant and bar). Gelada monkeys are often right outside the door in the morning. To stay, see how to book.
